If you're looking for good espresso/latte/cortado on the strip this is your place. No pastries other than donuts though. Uses Stumptown.
Good wine, good food, good service. A nice eddy in the tourist waterfront current. The pea shoot salad and the crab cakes were very good, as was the Gruner Veltliner.
It's not a hop-on-hop-off tour if you can never hop on..The attendant at the stop should organize a line. We missed three busses in a row because we weren't prepared to elbow our way onto the bus. We are very disappointed. We have run tourist attractions and it is the prosecutor's responsibility to ensure efficient order.
We had the Chef's tasting menu ($50/person) and it couldn't have been better.
The wine list is great, not too long and loaded with value and interesting wines. We went with the '13 Chateau Montalena chardonnay.
After an amuse bouche of oysters, the selection of small plates to start was highlighted by the charred peppers and leek/cauliflower soup.
The pasta course was gnocchi with duck confit and thai pepper. This was easily the best gnocchi we've had, a real standout.
The main course was perfectly seared scallops with charred Brussels sprouts and a grapefruit hollandaise (we'll be trying to recreate that hollandaise).
Dessert was an apple tart with cinnamon whipped cream. Service was perfect. We will be back!
Great croissants and great coffee. The staff are really interested to make sure you get what you want the way that you like it!
I'm sure there's a lots of great places to get a coffee in Toronto, but few will have the personality (and the croissants!).
